Create a Pandora without a homebrew PSP!!

Huh, what? no wai! Yes way, it is possible to create a pandora without a homebrew enabled psp. All with the power of good old technology. Heres what u need A bricked psp (well you dont need it, this just makes the battery). A battery, preferably official sony battery. And a soldering bolt. (no idea how you call this in english, im dutch.. ill make picture and someone will give me the english word ) So heres what u do.
1.) Open up your battery, its not hard to do, amazingly it comes loose pretty easily.



2.)Now locate the chip with model nr S93C56. 3.)We are now going to remove the fifth pin on the right of the chip. This will be the bottom one in the right row. Nearest the nr four printed on the "motherboard". Put a piece of metal, ie a knife underneath the pin and start melting the pin with your soldering bolt. When it starts to melt, move your knife up and remove the pin. Make sure the molted pin doesnt touch anything else! the chip looks like this when finished



4.)And now, we seal the battery. I suggest you use superglue, this doesnt create a mess and seals it tight. And now, you just created a jig kick battery.! Why does this work? Well lemme explain. the pin you just removed was the ground pin of the EEPROM. By removing it the EEPROM gets shut down. When the micro controller in the battery starts to read and look for the eeprom it will think the EEPROM is in the binary. Because of this it will send a 0xFFFFFFFF adress, which makes the psp run in service mode. you still need to make the right mem stick tho.

EDIT: If you are not confident in your soldering skills, have a less than steady hand or have a larger-than-optimal sized tip, please desolder the cell pack from the battery first. If you make contact between pins 5 and 6 then you will short ground to +3.6VDC! Not good! When desoldering the cell, only keep the iron on long enough to melt the solder. If you can, use a higher wattage iron so that the tip will be hotter, but you won't transfer as much heat to the cell pack. Remember that heat + Li-Ion battery = large explosion (t3h sux0r5, unless you get in on video. Twisted Evil Seriously though, this operation is not for the faint hearted, and should definitely not be your first soldering experience. I recommend trying your hand on lifting the pins on an N64 CPU chip. Surely you have a couple killed N64 mobos laying around. Razz

it actually happened to my friends batt while it was in his psp (same friend with the broken pc, bad luck huh >.<)

we called sony and they said something about older batteries and chargeing while useing them. they said it was our fault that it happened even though they never said it could happen...
